Under certain conditions, this is possible in some degree programs at the School of Music. Further information can be found under \u00a72 examination regulations<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n<\/jgu-base-accordionitem>\n\n\n \n\n

Yes. Please apply in any case within the deadline and enclose an informal certificate from your school stating that you are currently taking the Abitur. Submit your Abitur certificate by email as soon as you have received it. <\/p>\n\n\n<\/jgu-base-accordionitem>\n\n<\/jgu-base-accordion>\n\n\n\n

You can attend our group courses as an auditor at short notice at any time. Many prospective students use this opportunity to learn about the requirements of a music program of study. However, if you wish to regularly attend courses at the Mainz School of Music for the purpose of further and continuing education, you will need a (fee-based) guest student certificate. Unfortunately nothing – try again at the next possible date. Definitive deadlines for admission to the aptitude test are published on our homepage under Timetable and Deadlines<\/a> in good time. <\/p>\n\n\n<\/jgu-base-accordionitem>\n\n\n \n\n

You can only apply for one degree program at the Mainz School of Music at a time.<\/p>\n\n\n<\/jgu-base-accordionitem>\n\n\n \n\n

The aptitude test remains valid for the two semesters following the examination date, i.e. one year. With the result of the aptitude test, you can be considered for a place at university during this period without having to take the aptitude test again. A new application to the HfM is not necessary, but a new application to the Johannes Gutenberg University for the place at university is! <\/p>\n\n\n<\/jgu-base-accordionitem>\n\n\n \n\n

Previously earned, verified credits will be recognized for the program of study, provided they are relevant to the chosen degree program at the Mainz School of Music. Individual recognition occurs upon proposal after enrollment. For this, all necessary documents (such as diplomas\/credits) must already be available at the time of application. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The aptitude test must be completed in full.
We recommend timely advising at the student advising office.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Registration for the aptitude test<\/strong>: The Student Advising Office of the Mainz School of Music checks whether you meet the formal requirements for admission to the aptitude test in the degree program you have chosen and whether the submitted application documents are complete. If something is missing or unclear, we will contact you. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Application to the university<\/strong>: You have submitted your application, and now? Now you need patience. Your application will now go through several steps, which you can follow here<\/a>. The processing time varies depending on the application process<\/a> and, if applicable, the time of application. The University Student Service Center processes your application for admission, if necessary in consultation with the student advising office of the School of Music.

For the same degree program: twice. This is stipulated in the examination regulations or the aptitude test regulations. <\/p>\n\n\n<\/jgu-base-accordionitem>\n\n\n \n\n

Yes, we offer preparation courses. The courses include harmony and ear training and are offered in two orientations: classical as well as Jazz and Pop Music. Those interested in studying School Music (teacher education for Gymnasium) can also take a course in practical piano playing for schools (“Schupra”).
The courses usually take place during the lecture period at the Mainz School of Music, and participation is subject to charge. Current dates<\/a> are published at the beginning of the lecture period. <\/p>\n\n\n<\/jgu-base-accordionitem>\n\n\n \n\n

The examination program is the list of pieces that you will play\/sing in the aptitude test. It is required for all instrumental\/vocal examinations and can be changed up to two weeks before the examination. <\/p>\n\n\n<\/jgu-base-accordionitem>\n\n\n \n\n

The repertoire list includes the essential musical works that you have worked on so far. It is only required for the respective major and is purely informative; it is therefore not queried or checked in the aptitude test. <\/p>\n\n\n<\/jgu-base-accordionitem>\n\n\n \n\n

No, that is not possible. You play or sing together with students from the Mainz School of Music. An exception applies to singers; they can bring an accompanist. <\/p>\n\n\n<\/jgu-base-accordionitem>\n\n\n \n\n

External guests are unfortunately not permitted. Aptitude tests are open to the higher education institution, i.e. only members of the Mainz School of Music – teaching staff, employees and already enrolled students – can listen in. <\/p>\n\n\n<\/jgu-base-accordionitem>\n\n\n \n\n

If you are unable to attend the aptitude test, you can cancel your registration by sending an email to studienbuero-hfm@uni-mainz.de<\/a> no later than one day before the test. If you do not take the examination without first cancelling in writing, the examination will be considered failed (unsuccessful attempt).<\/p>\n\n\n<\/jgu-base-accordionitem>\n\n<\/jgu-base-accordion>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

We welcome international applicants! If you would like to obtain a degree at the School of Music, a number of other regulations must be observed in addition to passing the aptitude test.
