With the Bachelor of Opera and Concert degree programs, the Master of Voice, and the Concert Exam in Singing, we offer undergraduate and postgraduate training programs with an artistic qualification.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our goal is to optimally prepare students for the demands of a singer’s career in music theater and concert life in the fields of opera, oratorio, and song, or for a vocal pedagogy career. The focus of the artistic training is on the subjects of singing, coaching, song interpretation, part studies, and ensemble (opera and concert), New Music, German Baroque song, and Arie Antiche. Depending on the degree program, the artistic training is supplemented by musicological and music education subjects. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Today’s up-and-coming opera singers are required to have not only vocal qualifications but also highly developed stage and performance potential. Therefore, all singing students participate in stage training, body training, and dialogue design, as well as in the productions of the School of Music and its partner institutions, the stages of the city of Mainz and the region. This offers students a unique opportunity to be on a large stage during their studies and to work with conductors and directors under professional conditions \u2013 this motivates them and provides practical experience that is important for their later professional lives. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Together with the Mainz State Theater and the Peter Cornelius Conservatory of the City of Mainz, the Young Ensemble at the Mainz State Theater was established to promote young top-level artistic talent.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

With the International Summer School “Singing Summer” and the excellence program “Barock vokal. Kolleg f\u00fcr Alte Musik”, the Singing Department offers artistic further training opportunities for advanced students, graduates of all music academies in Germany and abroad, and Young Professionals. They can deepen and expand their skills and knowledge in courses accompanying their careers or studies under the direction of internationally renowned artists. In 2008, the Singing Department was awarded for its excellent achievements in learning and teaching within the framework of the Rhineland-Palatinate Excellence Competition for learning and teaching. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
