Do you have a question, a concern or a problem regarding your current or future studies? The Student Advisory Center (ZSB) of the JGU is your first contact point. We will be happy to advise you!

- “Should I start a pre-university program (for school pupils)?”
- “What does the JGU offer me?”
- “How do I get a place at university?”
- “How can I make the best possible use of my time at the JGU?”
- “What can I do if unexpected problems arise?”
- “Have I chosen the right subject?”
- “What comes after graduation?”
- “Studying without a high school diploma?”

The Equality and Diversity Office works to achieve actual gender equality at all levels and pursues a JGU-wide diversity strategy with the aim of enabling all members of the JGU to participate in university processes in the best possible way and to develop their individual potential in the best possible way.
The Central Student Council coordinates and supports the work of the individual student councils, provides the structural and financial basis for the student councils and thus ensures their ability to work. The tasks of the ZeFaR include support with first-year student support, such as the popular orientation weekends, concrete study-related assistance such as advising on study regulations, registration and examination procedure, and support with the organization of student council parties, lecture series and other supporting events. Each student council sends a member of its student council to the body, which meets publicly once a month on Wednesdays.
Every 5 years, the HfMM organizes an alumni meeting for all interested former members & friends. Our last meeting took place in 2023 and was a great success.
Review: Alumni Meeting 2023
After 5 years, the time had come and we were able to welcome alumni from the shorter and longer past back to the HfM: Our alumni were welcomed by Prof. Christopher Miltenberger and a string orchestra of current students. Afterwards, there was the opportunity to meet old fellow students over coffee and cake and revive memories. The exploration of the HfM and its courses offered was not neglected either. So you could learn a lot about our organs, attend rehearsals of a jazz combo or enjoy songs by Kurt Weill and Hanns Eisler. As part of a discussion round, it was also possible to exchange ideas about teacher education today and in the past.
The crowning finale of the day was the choir concert of the university choir for the 100th birthday of György Ligeti, in which his famous horn trio also sounded.
We were very happy to spend a wonderful day with our alumni and hope that we can meet you again next time!
Review: Alumni Meeting 2018
The alumni meeting on June 23, 2018 was a complete success: former members met again, got to know the new HfM or simply enjoyed the varied program.
We would be happy to send you regular information about our program by e-mail and inform you about news at the School of Music. We would be delighted if you would subscribe to our free newsletter.
A successful transition to a profession, artistic success and a satisfying career depend not only on a high level of professional expertise – this is a prerequisite. It is becoming increasingly important to develop an individual artistic profile and to check one’s own goals in good time through experience in artistic professional practice.
We support students and graduates in this process with a variety of offers. Take advantage of the opportunities for early orientation. Advising services are available to you before you begin your program of study, during and at the end of your studies.
Are you looking for one or more musicians for a university-internal or private event? Would you like to support & engage young artists? Then you have come to the right place!
In order to give our students and young graduates the opportunity to expand their experience in artistic practice and pave the way for them to enter professional life, we are happy to forward your request for a musical assignment of any kind.
