Since its founding in 2001, the non-profit Friends’ Association of the Mainz School of Music e.V. has supported the training at the School of Music.

Our circle includes current and former members of the School of Music and the University of Mainz, as well as public figures from culture and business.

A new trust foundation was established in July 2023 under the umbrella of the Johannes Gutenberg University Foundation: The Drs. Göbel Foundation for Music promotes arts and culture, science and research, as well as education, general and vocational training, including student aid at the Mainz School of Music of the Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz (JGU). The founding couple, Dr. Elke Göbel and Dr. Rainer Göbel, also focus on promoting international understanding, tolerance in all areas of culture, and the idea of international reconciliation.

Aware of the social and societal importance of artistic education, the newly established Elke and Franz Waldeck Foundation focuses on the Elementary Music Education program of study at the Mainz School of Music. “We are very pleased about this new trust foundation under the umbrella of the Johannes Gutenberg University Foundation, and especially about its thematic focus,” explains the President of the Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz (JGU), Prof. Dr. Georg Krausch. “Because our School of Music has a special profile with its unique combination of artistic practice, research, and teaching. Especially Elementary Music Education, in the spirit of the new foundation, impacts society and culture by qualifying students for a diverse professional career at music schools, private and municipal educational and care institutions, as well as for collaborative projects with general education schools or cultural institutions.”

Aware of the importance of artistic education, the newly established Andreas Gepp and Anne Strube Endowment Fund places its focus on chamber music at the Mainz School of Music. “We are very pleased about this new endowment fund under the umbrella of the Johannes Gutenberg University Foundation, and especially about its thematic orientation. After all, chamber music, as an interdepartmental intersection of instrumental-technical and artistic-interpretive training, is of utmost importance for all programs of study at our School of Music,” explains the President of the Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz (JGU), Prof. Dr. Georg Krausch. “We therefore thank the founding couple Andreas Gepp and Anne Strube very much for their private philanthropic commitment.”

The School Music Network Mainz e.V. is a non-profit association and is open to all interested parties who have an interest in the promotion of School Music. We connect you – students, alumni, practitioners, and interested parties – and offer you interesting further education opportunities. In addition, the School Music Network supports your participation in further education programs of our partner institutions, especially the Mainz School of Music, the JGU Mainz, the State Music Academy of Rhineland-Palatinate, and the BMU (Federal Association of Music Education).
